I might be close to landing a position and I want to be prepared in case companies run background check on me.
The most relevant piece of experience(of 2 years) that I have on my resume was an unpaid position at a very small private establishment. Since my interviewers never questioned it, they do not know that it was an unpaid position as I didn't disclose it since I didn't want them to rule me out because I wasnt getting paid.
My questions are
1) If they end up running a check on me, would it make me look bad since there is no record (I am on good terms with my supervisor still so I can ask him to provide reference)
2) Who are they going to call for the verification? Since it is a small business, there is no HR department. To me it wouldn't make sense for them to just look up the office number and call that.
