Getting a job with a record...

So, I have this... Really big blemish on my record. It's a long story, and I will have it all expunged or at the very least sealed very soon. But I really need a job.

If a company takes one look at my record they'll flat out deny me. I applied to several big box retail stores for the winter season and it's all been a resounding no despite my great experience with the retail sector. I'm pretty sure it's because of this record I have.

Could I, perhaps, apply to a mom'n'pop store around my area, or are there programs for getting jobs for someone in my situation? Thanks in advance for the advice
