To make a long story short, until very recently I worked for a large financial institution in London, UK, for almost a year as a contractor. My employment was terminated the same day as the error was discovered. What i thought was a fairly benign mistake on my part turned out to be a lot more serious. It's possible my mistake caused the company a financial or reputational damage. I was very new to this specific task, so the full extent of consequences is unknown to me. Since i was a contractor the company for decided to fire me with immediate effect. As a contractor I'm not technically employed at this company but through a third party company, so I'm curious as to what kind of records is kept, and whether this incident would show up in a background check. How likely is it that I'm permanently blacklisted from ever working at this company on a permanent basis?
