I applied for a job as a statistical analyst with a county in California. There's an online pre-employment exam followed by an in-person written exam if you do well enough on the online exam. They've had some issues with emailing candidates (e.g. the invitation email was only sent to my job portal account, but not my regular email; they sent me a reminder email to take the exam after I'd already taken it). The deadline to take the online portion was yesterday and the in-person exam is on Monday. I called today to find when we might be notified of our status since there is such a close turnaround between the deadline for the online portion and the in-person portion. Was it a mistake to call this early? Have I put myself in their bad graces?
