So my direct report manager who I worked very closely with stopped coming to work a year ago and his job has been reopened. The qualifications for the job are identical to my resume and current qualifications. The only differences really is the salary and supervisory role. A coworker asked if I was going to apply for the job and I said no, I wouldn’t be applying. And he looked at me like I was nuts and said “...okay?” I just don’t think the $8k bump in salary is worth the risk of me getting passed up for that job and the ensuing awkwardness and I don’t think my resume would be considerably enhanced by that position considering that most of it is stuff I’m already doing. I think if I were to apply for a new job, it would be at another organization.
