What’s the rule of thumb answering the question of “minimum salary required?”

I have received a job offer and they are having me fill out a compensation profile. They have asked me a couple of times what I would expect to make. They are asking what I would want my minimum salary expectation to be so they can create a job offer for me.

Should I answer this with the truth? Or put an amount a bit higher to negotiate down to a what I would consider minimum? Or do I shoot for the moon and go way higher than I expect?
