Hey guys, so I recently made a career change from law enforcement to IT contractor work. I'm better at it and enjoy it more, but currently I have no benefits or a pension. I am unsure which degree I should go for and exactly what positions I should apply for in the future. Basically right now I work for a company that sends me to 2-4 jobs a day which vary greatly. One job I could be running 1000' of CAT5 from a server room to a satellites antenna in a department store, another job I could be completely installing a new server room including the rack/wall plywood, mounting the modems, routers, firewalls, CAT5 termination etc, but then a lot of jobs are as easy as troubleshooting store point of sales to see why a monitor isnt working or installing a new businesses phones. Basically all things new tech related and troubleshooting. However, considering this is all new experience for me I'm not really sure where I could go from here, NVIDIA? CISCO?. I would like to have a stable business above me and job security but I'm not sure if it would be more beneficial to just become the best tech I can be or possibly make my own business? If anyone with experience in the tech field could provide info that would be great.
