Hi Y’all!
Yesterday I received a call from HR staying that I didn’t sign an Employment Agreement during my tenure there. They emailed me a copy and asked me to sign it and submit it ASAP. I however ended my Employment there 3 months ago.
I wasn’t fired or reprimanded in any way, I just didn’t know any other way to say the job ended lol. It was a summer college internship that ran from May to August.
I do not want to sign the agreement for two reasons: one, they went back on their word for an informal offer of full-time Employment and left me hanging recently. Secondly, I live in California and this company is in the Midwest. Their restrictions for NDA/non-compete are much more strict than anything in California.
I learned a great deal at this position and kept in touch with my mentor. I would like to use this company/mentor as a reference in the future. I have an internship at the moment here in California so this summer internship won’t be first in my resume. Will not signing this agreement reflect poorly on my references when employers call or could the employer deny me working there despite having W2’s? Will anything bode poorly for not complying?
Thank you very much!
