Is a strong motivation and willingness to learn enough to convince a company when I only have experience in the academic world ?

I'm working in the academic field and found a year ago, a company I really believed in. I've been a user of their product (a software) and a huge fan. I would like to work for them and help bringing the product in my country. They are currently in the United States and I'm from Europe. I got 200% motivation, I know what I can bring to them and how it can be done (in theory) but I'm lacking of experience in the company's field. Is it possible for me to be heard and convinced them at this point ? How can I make myself visible and reliable when they don't know me ?
