I applied to this tire shop company a few days ago, and received a call from one of the managers. He wanted me to come in but my week was kind of full at the moment, so I tried to explain that to him. At the end of the phone call he said "you seem kind of hesitant, so, just figure out if this is a job you want and call me back."
So, my week opened up a couple days later and I called back, but the position I had applied for was filled. Instead, the manager told me to contact the owners son, that works a shop, literally 3 miles up the road. I went into the shop and gave the managers name, saying he sent me to speak to Bob(owners son). Bob says "Oh yeah! The military guy mark was speaking about!. Gimme a sec and you can fill out an application."
A few minutes go by and I'm filling out another application. We have an interview, and he goes through basically saying he wants me to work for them but he has no mechanic positions available at this shop, there are two guys who may be leaving in a couple weeks, but he may have to call around at the other shops to get me a spot. That it would be like an hour before I hear anything. He said "out of the 10 applicants I've seen this month, you're definitely the top one"
So, as I shake his hand and thank him for the interview, Bob says, Im going to call the other stores, if I don't call you, call me back in 2 hours" and hands me his cell number. I leave at 1105am I run some errands and call him back at 130ish. Bob answers and I greet him, saying that he told me to call him back. "Oh, yeah. Sorry I've been running around the shop, but I did get a call back from one of the shops, they have no spots open. I'm waiting on a call from the other shop to see if there is an open spot. Worst case i can get you a spot here in a couple weeks at the latest." So i agreed and thanked him again.
So, skip to today. I was feeding my daughter and decided to call him at like...1030am. The phone rang like.. 3-4times then went to voicemail.
I don't really know what to do at this point. Whether I have the job and it's just a waiting period, or if he is just blowing me off.
