TL;DR : Currently 17 with a GED and starting college in January. Considering to be a police officer and the feasibility of this career path.
Currently 17 and starting college January 2019. I got my GED after dropping out of high school this year. Depression and anxiety 'forced' me out. I still haven't sorted it out yet which is something I worry on a daily basis. I want to transfer to a 4 year University after 2 years at the community college. I'd be taking some form of engineering. I didn't come from a wealthy family and money has always been a topic of arguments. I don't think we hate each other but I don't have the connection I wished I had with my parents. That being said, the point of college for me is money. Not something I'm proud of but it's probably the biggest factor when considering a job. At first I thought working in the tech related field would be great since I love technology. Now I'm considering being a police officer. It pays well, great benefits, and I love the idea of the job.
Now my problems. I have depression, anxiety, no work experience, no tangible skills, no high level of education, and I am definitely not fit. I weighed 200lbs as a 5'9" person at my worst, currently 160lbs. I've wanted to seek for medical help but my anxiety is not helping that endeavour. I recently also saw people mentioning how having records of mental health issues will decrease your chances of getting hired. As I'm not even at the minimum age requirement I feel like I can work on things. If I choose and commit to this career path what should I do?
