6 weeks ago I started as a project coordinator temp-to-perm position. This company generally hires their temps as long as they perform well and take on work.
All the perm employees are pretty busy, so last week I volunteered to train an incoming sr. project manager on a software we use. I figured it was easy enough, then my manager sent over the curriculum I would be training him on and I realized I didn't know a lot. I still thought it would be fine, and that I would use my free time to get more familiar with this software. But as I get closer to my appointment with him I get more nervous, realizing I can only cover the basics from a new project coordinator perspective and not a senior PM perspective.
I'm not sure what to do here - I can't hand it off to someone last minute, and I don't want to let my coworkers down and be seen as someone who bites off more than they can chew - particularly when I'm still trying to prove I would be worthwhile temp employee. I'm just not sure I'm properly equipped to handle any questions he may have about the software, or thoroughly explain his role.
Thoughts? Have you ever been in a similar situation? If you were, how did you handle it?
