I need advice on leaving or staying at a job...

Hi, and I want to thank in advance to anyone that takes the time to read this long post and share their opinions.

A year ago I moved to a country in Europe. I was job seeking, and to be honest it was not that hard for me to get invited to job interviews and finally landing a job at a great consulting firm. One of the Big 4. Obviously, time was of the essence and being myself a recruiter I decided to apply for jobs that I was well suited to perform, but that was maybe not in my field. My goal was to get inside of a great company and I did. I landed a part-time role as a secretary and since then I have had no complaints. The company pays well I have been able to support myself and my wife perfectly. We are a little bit tight, but starts are hard and I feel very grateful for the opportunities I have been given. In was explained that this was a part-time role and that there was no promise of how fast I would be able to get a full-time position.

A few months ago my wife got pregnant. We lost the pregnancy, but at that point, I started feeling that I could be making more money and also I am not working enough or making any progress in my career. Seriously, I sometimes spend days that I don't even get an email. For some people that would be a dream job, you get paid for pretty much doing nothing. However, it concerns me a lot. I am 32, and I haven't had any significant time on a role in my life. I have a decent experience on a lot of things, but I am not an expert in anything.

Adding to my concerns I started feeling uncomfortable in my team. I sometimes feel that I am being treated unfairly. There is another person that shares the same opportunity as I do and that person usually gets all the requests from everyone. He is a local, I guess that helps, and I am not claiming to be discriminated, I am not. I also feel that when I make a mistake some people are more eager to let me know I fucked up and stop including me in stuff. I am a secretary to partners after the main ones leave for the day. So they usually don't want to leave stuff for me to do, etc. Even though I do not fuck up, I have made a few mistakes and that's normal.

Given all that was happening, I decided I was going to start keeping score of my work, evidence of things, because since we work with agendas mainly I can do something that was right at the moment, then the other person changes it and when they forget, they claim that I did or placed something where it shouldn't be according to common practices. So I started looking outside, just out of curiosity and I saw a job in an embassy that is between Bussiness and the HR department. I applied and got invited to a job interview. I am a person that plans ahead. So I have been asking myself, If I get accepted, should I quit this job? This is a really good company, I have a lot of flexibility and eventually, I think I might have the opportunity to move to another department, I just don't know how soon and not many positions open where I live. An option would be to move to another country, but it would be very hard for my wife.

It has been a long time since I have had such a difficult time deciding. On one hand, I work for a great company, I believe that by now you might have figure out I love this place. I would like to stay. However, I am working in a field that is not my own, I do not make enough money to go back to college to get a master's degree as I would like and also I am not making any progress in my field. So I am stuck. If I stay then it is almost a bet, to see if a position I can apply for opens. Which rarely happens in my country. On the other hand, It is a full-time job, working with HR, I would also have the money to pay for college and the certifications I want and I will also be making progress in my career, but I do not know how are jobs at Embassies, and I have heard horror stories from people that have worked in different embassies. So the experiences are pretty much consistent. I would seriously appreciate some help here. Maybe there is something I am not seeing.

Thanks!
