Context:
When I say "good" I mean in areas such as pay and/or getting networking opportunities that will allow me to get promoted and such when I graduate. At the very least, better than my current job. I'm not defining "good" as 100k salary right out the gate. I'm just thinking about getting a good jump start into my career.
For knowledges sake, I'll explain my current job situation and maybe it'll help answer a question such as, should I just stay employed where I am now. The job I currently work at is kind of a mess for a few reasons.
1: It's a church. That's not a problem for me as I'm religious and don't mind the church too much, but they require me to a) attend the church, b) volunteer hours for the ministry via "soulwinning" or singing during services, c) fill out a weekly Google form to tell them whether or not I attended church, tithed, etc.
2: I'm getting paid minimum wage. Technically, it's a little more and a little less at the same time. I'm in Florida (which is also possibly useful info related to the question) where minimum wage is $8.10/hr. I'm getting paid $8.25/hr and I'm required to give 10% of my income back as a form of tithe. (I know that's really sketchy in itself but that's not the main point of this post, so I hope it doesn't take the spotlight.)
So with those reasons, I'm currently unsatisfied with my job. The degree I'm pursuing is Business Information Systems. I believe this is a good degree to get as Information Technology is a growing industry. If it's important, I'm attending Ashford University, an online college.
I've been searching for jobs timidly through LinkedIn and my colleges career service. I've only applied for three or four jobs as of now, because I'm still not entirely sure if finding a "real" job is the right choice. I haven't gotten any interviews or calls back yet, which isn't surprising because I haven't applied for much.
I'm 18 years old, for the record. I'm not too familiar with the industry outside of my non-typical church job as IT and Network admin, but I assume a title that high isn't something even remotely attainable as of now and I'm only searching for an intern or Jr. administrator job. I have 3 years of experience working with the church as I volunteered to help when I was young to learn more about tech and eventually work up to my current 40hr/week job.
Note: Wrote this on mobile and tried my best to make sure spelling and formatting are good.
Note2: This is my first post in this subreddit which is always a bit scary because sometimes I accidentally miss a rule. If I'm breaking any rules, sorry in advance and if it's not a [removed]able offense, I'll edit it to comply with rules.
Note3: Feel free to ask any other questions about me, my goals, my school, my current job, etc. and I'll answer when I can.
Tldr:
1: Title (How likely is it that I can get a good job/internship while pursuing a degree in the same field?)
2: Located in Mid Florida between Tampa and Orlando
3: Pursuing "Business Information Systems" degree
4: I'm 18 years old
5: 3 years experience in field
