Dedication to work vs school

I just managed to get through my first year of school and have noticed something weird with my personality.

At work I tend to go the extra mile, pick up shifts, have the best quality work, etc. But at school it’s like I don’t care about myself or all the money I’m pissing away because I miss class, don’t do homework and other things bad student do. I don’t know if it’s because in work the company is depending on me or what but I just thought it was weird. Do any of you guys do something similar or know somebody like this?
