Considering not hiring a candidate with the same name

As the lead (and only person) of my department, I am actively recruiting and finding ways to expand. We have a decent pipeline of candidates. A relatively qualified individual applied and unfortunately we share the exact same name and skillset. I work with a lot of international clients and employees, and we'll be getting sent the same messages across a lot of platforms. This type of thing could be very confusing and annoying in a multilingual, cross-cultural environment where we have to be very clear in our responsibilities. If our department was well established with 7+ employees I would not have a problem but I cannot even imagine the additional headache this will cause. Being Mark 1 and Mark 2 will be the start of annoying jokes (my boss already considers everyone under 30 as the same age/experience level) and additionally hurt leading my department. Is this just absurd on my part or do I have some justification?
