i'm 19 and i can't get a job. i've worked during the summer for five years teaching children (around minimum wage, even though it was an outdoor job with long hours) and in high school i volunteered in the legal system for my town for three years. i have a resume and on it i have references with people that will vouch for my work ethic and personable attitude. i've applied everywhere, even places i really don't want to work. (sidenote: i'll visit these places i've applied at and see some of their employees and think, they hired this guy but not me? really?) i put my resume up on job sites, and the only feedback i've gotten are from obscure companies who don't even know who i am and just want me, a student, to be a telemarketer. i've gotten no face to face interviews. i have no criminal history, not even a tattoo. is it because i don't have retail experience? i just want a minimum wage job. what can i do?
