Hello everyone. So, I have worked at grocery stores or other retail stores since I was 17 with varying degrees of length. Never really moved up on the pay scale or anything. Now, at 26, I have never really kept a job that I've left on good terms.
I am a hard worker, but I suffer from depression and social anxiety. I am also plagued with back injuries (I have had one surgery and am looking at having two more in the next couple years).
I applied for disability in 2014, and have been denied four times since. At this point, even with a lawyer, they have denied me. I am considering making a switch to my medication to try to get my mental health in a better place, but honestly, until I am able to help pay the bills, regardless of how I do it, I don't see my depression fully lifting.
I also understand that it's a bit of a hard sell finding someone who will take me on knowing that I need multiple surgeries in the coming years.
Does anyone have advice on what a borderline disabled person should do to try to find work? I don't need to be rich. I just need to be able to survive. Even 15-20 hours a week to start out with would be a huge help.
Thank you all for your time. I hope this is the appropriate subreddit, and if not, if you could point me to a better one, that would be great.
