I've applied for a job that I REALLY want/need. I'm in my second-to-last college semester & I have a LinkedIn account. I actually found the manager of the department for the job position I applied for & sent them a request. The manager accepted & now I want to send them a message basically introducing myself & to hopefully start up a professional/networking relationship, & of course I REALLY want this job!!
First of all, is messaging them weird or should I just go for it?
Secondly, what should I say so that I come across as genuine, professional, & not hinder my chances of getting hired? I always have a hard time knowing the right things to say & I obsess over my every word. I really don't want to blow my chances of getting this job. Also, I applied about 4 nights ago. The job posting has been up for about 13 days by now.
Also, if anyone has any advice regarding if I should call them instead to ask about the status of my application, that'd be helpful too! Thank you.
