Should I even bother with retail if I have experience in my field?

I'm doing social media marketing as a contractor right now, and the pay is pretty awful. It's also really boring and I'm mostly just sitting at home waiting for something to do.

I really need to find something better, and am wondering if I should just find a retail job until I find a better job in my field? If I did try to apply to retail, how would I even format my resume? I worked in retail before (and was offered a manager position that I turned down), but that was 3 years ago. Or should I just continue looking for jobs where I have experience?
