Hi,
So I have just received a new job offer that I am considering, however, I want to be sure to go about it the right way with my current employer.
So my perspective employer wants my decision by Monday, and the job offer is contingent on a background check/drug test. I am not worried about the screens, but I have heard that it isn’t a good idea to submit my resignation until the drug screen/background check is completed. I also want to bring up my new offer with my current employer and see if he throws a counter offer, however, I don’t want to burn any bridges there.
What should I do? Should I talk with my employer first thing on Monday and see what he says, accept the position, and wait until the drug screen/background check to come through before formally putting in my notice?
I am a little lost and need some help.
