How damaging to my career would it be to quit my current job with no plan?

My job has been incredibly rewarding but also incredibly stressful for the last year. I've learned a lot, and grown as a person and employee, and this would be my dream job if it weren't for the serious cash flow issues.

I can't effectively do my job if we can't pay for product, and clients are affected. Our bookkeeper thinks we can survive if we get a project we have bid on, but IDGAF anymore. I don't feel good about this, and I'm burned out. Been ready to quit for a while, but I'm so burned out, I don't want to work. I would like to recover temporarily before jumping in to a new position.

The problem is, I'm pregnant. So I'd have more time off than I'd like.

I'm 3 years in to my career, very valued at my current company, and make 55k/year.

If I were to quit, and start job hunting a few months after the baby gets here, how bad would that year off look on a resume?

I'm worried I wouldn't jump back in to my same pay or responsibilities, and there aren't a lot of companies in my direct field that would have under an hour commute. The commute has been part of the reason I've been sticking it out where I am (10 minutes).

I do get recruiter offers regularly already, but my husband isn't as able to relocate as I am.

What are your thoughts on the mommy gap/ mental health benefits of taking time off?

Thank you!
