Hey guys! Though I’ve almost made up my mind, I’m wondering what your take is on my situation. Maybe I’m missing something that might make my decision more clear.
I’m a drafting technician in Canada with almost 3 years experience. Have been at my current job for just under 2 years. Morale is low and projects aren’t the most interesting. Miscommunication is an everyday occurrence. The upsides are it’s close to home and the work is easy. Though boring, I’m comfortable where I am.
I found somewhere a few weeks ago and 2 weeks later I got a call yesterday to expect an offer next week. The projects seem more interesting and the morale and management just seem much more capable and appreciative. This place has catered lunch every day, and a pension. I’ve never been anywhere with these 2 benefits. The downsides are it’s across the city, over 40 minutes away, and I’d be jumping into something new, which always makes me nervous. They also offered a starting salary less than what I currently make at first, I talked them into matching what I make, and asked if they could look into an extra week of PTO.
From what I’ve mentioned, do you think it’s smart to switch or stay where I am? What’s your opinion?
