Long story short my father 62 years old, somehow managed to break his own leg during a trip to another state, I'm a bit worried about leaving him in the hospital/home with my sister, and I'm really wondering if i should tell my boss or not
I currently work as a consultant for the finance sector customizing a rather complicated software for banks and collection agencies, most of the time im having meetings and getting the work done on my laptop. This quarter my boss teams, haven't "Delivered" the expected results, I have barely 6 months with this employer and i have yet to deliver "results" (make money) due to the complexity of the software we sell, in order to put pressure on me and my coworkers we got our "home office privileges" removed (we had it once a week), while the rest of the company still has it
My sister will be hanging around at home since she recently lost her job, but I'm kind of worried about going to the job a leave my parent hanging around the house, when my job can be perfectly done remotely, (many people in the office are currently at their homes, but me and my team aren't due to the lack of "results") needles to say my commute time is goes from 2 to 4hrs total daily, so when i get home i barely get any chance to actually DO something other than take a bath and eat dinner
Personally I would rather do home office (commuting sucks and yes i'm a millennial), i just wanted to give context about my work being easily done remotely, but... putting that aside, I would like to ask here...
What is the correct approach to this kind of situation in the office?
Should i tell my boss?
Should i tell HR?
Should i just shut it and go to work?
