I'm cautiously optimistic about an upcoming interview for a position I would very happily take. I already passed a skills test and am most definitely qualified, and I do well in interviews, so...fingers crossed!
Assuming it goes well, I'm trying to imagine what the potential offer would look like. This is a government position, and I already know what the pay range is. There's about a $2000/month difference between the lowest and highest salary for this level.
I've never worked for the government before. I'm trying to find this info online but am having some trouble--would I automatically come in at the bottom and work my way up over time, or is there a chance they'd offer me more (or be open to negotiations)?
For reference, the job requires a BA. I have a graduate degree. I have many years of experience doing this type of work, and as I said, I already passed a test for them. I think I'm a very strong candidate and would hope that they'd offer me a bit more than the base...but I'm not sure if that's how it works with the government?
If I get the offer, I'm 99% sure I'll take it, even if it's the very lowest salary. I think the only thing that would change my mind would be if the people who interview me were awful. But I already met a few members of the staff and they seemed cool, so I don't anticipate that happening.
Anyway, super excited about this and trying not to get ahead of myself, but just looking to go into it informed so my expectations are reasonable. Thanks for any help y'all can give!
