Any tips for a shy person looking to work?

I'm 19 and I haven't worked yet. The reason for that is because I'm really shy. My social skills aren't the best and I'm not much of a people-person. This has been holding me back from working.

I really need and want a job though because I'm tired of being broke and having to depend on my parents for money. I would like to take that burden off them and contribute to the household.

Any tips for me would be appreciated.
