Recruiters: is it a common issue that teams within your company looking to fill positions do not effectively communicate to you recruiters what they want in a candidate?

Seems like there’s a trend now where recruitment cannot vet candidates because there isn’t communication in what is wanted/needed/desired from hiring managers to recruitment teams. I’ve been in 5 different interview cycles with companies during over the last year in which the recruiter screens me, I make it through round 1 and then in round 2 or 3 they bring up skills or desired knowledge that the recruiter nor the job listing said anything about. So, I’m sitting here admitting I don’t have the knowledge yet or skill set they’re discussing. Recruiters, is this a common problem?
