I (27 female) am at my wits end for a job I have been at for 2 1/2 years. I am ready to quit just getting out of bed for this job and having to deal these idoits Is getting on my nerves. I have been holding out for a raise that was supposed to be yearly (it is clearly stated in the hand book as such) for two years. I was supposed to get a dollar raise my first year but they said I wasn't allowed because I just moved departments. So I waited until this year and it was supposed to be a $1.50 (as clearly stated in the handbook). So it has been several months as my 2yr mark was july the 7th. I signed the paper work for the raise on September the 10th. I have been asking about my raise since And nothing has happened. Every time I ask I get the same response "we are working on it give us some time". I wasn't too worried about as they would have to cut me a fat check for retro pay the longer they took. Until one day I had asked the the HR person what was going on and they casually said "This company does not offer retro pay" which I didn't know they could do. So I started asking friends on the floor what their thoughts on the matter was. I found out several temps are making $.50 more then fulltime employees and several people on the floor have been waiting on raises for 6 months or better. Is this illegal? If it is how would I handle this.
Thing is I wanna quit cause the most of the warehouses in this area are hiring for the amount of money it took me a year to get. But if I get this raise I would be making more then the average amount in this area. The stress of the job and crappy schedule is getting to me but the company doesn't offer a pto payout if you quit. So I have almost 70hours of pto that I feel is being held hostage.
