Company is holding a job fair after telling me they've put recruiting "on the backburner." Should I attend?

First of all, thanks in advance for reading and any input.

So, for some context: I graduated college last spring, and have been working part time online since then. Recently though, I've decided to start looking into more career-oriented, local, in-person jobs. About two months ago, I applied to my literal dream job; strong pay, good hours, and an incredibly fun position at a company that I really like. They got back to me after applying pretty quickly, and invited me to interview. I interviewed with them via video chat, and I think the interview went OK. It seemed like they liked me, but that stuff is always hard to tell in the moment. About a two weeks after my interview, they emailed me saying that they were delaying recruiting for the role as they bring in other positions. I responded with the typical "No problem, thanks for the update, look forward to hearing from you soon." Then I followed up a couple weeks later to ask if there were any updates. They responded saying that they've been very busy, and the recruiting process for the role I'm interested in has taken a backburner to more pressing ones. I basically gave the same response. Then, about a week ago, I saw that they posted on LinkedIn that they're having a job fair, and one of the positions that the job fair is recruiting for is the one I'm interested in. So, my question is: should I bother going to the job fair? I feel like if they wanted me, they wouldn't be holding a job fair in an effort to recruit for this role (albeit they're recruiting for others too). Also, it would've been nice if they reached out to me directly, inviting me to come or showing that they're interested in me for the role, but perhaps that's too much to ask. Now, I'm leaning towards going, because I'm really, really excited about the job and think I'd be a great fit, and it could be a chance to prove that in person. However, I don't want to hold onto hope that I might get the job if they're not actually interested in me. So, should I go? Am I wasting my time? Would they have reached out to me directly if they wanted me to go/were thinking about giving me the job? Any and all input/opinions/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
