I am currently employed full-time by the company I work for, but I am looking to leave. I had a call today with a recruiter for a position that sounded good on paper, but turns out it's a contract role. She tried selling it like "80% of the candidates I work with end up getting hired permanently". If I was unemployed, sure, I'd consider a contract role. But is it worth it to lose the stability coming from a permanent role? Then, there's also the stigma of being a contract employee in the workplace. Granted, many offices aren't really open with COVID and all, I can't help but think of the stories that came out a few years ago about how contract employees were treated at Google compared to permanent employees, like they were inferior, as they are officially employees of the staffing agency.
