Pay after two weeks notice (Canada)

So i recently handed in my two weeks notice at this fast food place I was working at. Albeit working there for about 1.5 months, I found something much better for my career and so decided to pursue that. The manager etc were encouraging around the situation but when the schedule came out for the next week I saw no shifts. I was surprise because they told me specifically to give a full two weeks notice and I payed then that courtesy. I even waited on my start day for the new job until after the period. Someone was telling me I may be entitled to pay for the average hours/week I worked there. Thanks for your help
