I work in compliance/ops for a very large global corp. My current title is rather IT centric - think Lead Sys Consultant - but my role is running a niche federal regulatory program almost start to finish. I'm in the low 6 figures compensation wise, but my organization has made it clear there is no further career development as they really don't care about what I do or my program for the most part. Objectively within the company/industry my role should be at a Manager of Compliance / Program management level. I've applied to over 15 internal jobs in the last year+ and made it to the final 2-3 3 or 4 times but each time did not get the position. It's clear I've kind of hit a wall here.
I applied for and received an offer for a Director of Compliance role at a smaller company. The position was originally posted as a project manager type role, but they were very impressed by my experience and upped the salary as well as the position title. I really did appreciate that they went out of their way to do what they could and expressed a lot of interest in my career. BUT - the pay would be essentially the same as what I make now.
I am a little less excited than I feel I should be. I am very, very ready to leave my current company/role, but something about getting a new job without a pay raise is dulling my reaction. I also have another potential offer coming early this week, which isn't helping me settle on this opportunity to massively upgrade my job title. Does anyone have any anecdotes or experience in a situation like this?
