hi! so i’ve been at my current job for 6 months and i already think it’s time for me look elsewhere because of the toxic treatment/environment. i love the work itself (recruiting) but i’m discovering i work in a very toxic environment with a narcissist manager who has yelled/belittled me multiple times for things out of my control, disrespected personal boundaries, comments on my appearance (negatively and positively) and uses our meetings to talk about themselves versus my individual work and goals. the thing is i can’t go to HR or higher up because my manager is very good friends with these individuals and it has been shared with me by other teammates any time anyone else has tried to express their concerns they have been let go for not being a team player or transferred to another team and treated even worse. : /
we’re going back to the office soon (no work from home option allowed) and my anxiety has skyrocketed causing me to lose sleep & worry constantly (i know i’m not alone here and my heart goes out to all of you being met with this fate, as well).
i’ve talked to friends and family about this and for the most part i’m met with support but others have told me just tough it out and suck it up. i’ve started to apply to other jobs so my question is to those of you who started a new job and realized 3-6 months in it wasn’t going to be a good fit...how did you go about the job search to make yourself marketable ? what did you say in interviews when asked why you’re leaving your current employer? did you have success in landing a new job and if so how long did it take you? any advice, input and suggestions is greatly appreciated!
