I’m sure most of you are thinking that I must be out of my mind for considering this.
But, ever since I was young, I knew I never wanted to be a nurse. It never aligned with my personality (I’m a quiet, reserved person). I knew that I wanted to choose medicine. Medicine is completely different from nursing. My family pressured me to choose nursing and told me that I can use it as a stepping stone to medical school.
Reluctantly I chose nursing. Four years after I graduated I deeply regret it every day. I decided to drop out but never did it because of my family’s expectations. So I bit the bullet and somehow managed to graduate from school with a low GPA. Hence eliminating my eligibility for medical school.
I made up my mind that I really don’t want to stay in nursing for the rest of my life. I am willing to stay only to work casually because it pays well enough that I can get by with as few hours as I can. But I miss studying science. If I go back to school and get a bachelor of science, what could I do it? I can still apply for medicine but I need to have a back-up plan.
I would greatly appreciate your advice. Thanks!
PS Please don’t suggest looking into other avenues in nursing. I tried community, public health, bedside, etc. Still not for me.
