It has been over a year now since I was laid off due to COVID affecting my job, which caused a lay off of me and about 40 other engineers.
Fortunately, this year has been better than last year where I’m getting more interviews and call backs for engineering positions. But I feel they’re going nowhere and I believe that’s due to the amount of experience these positions are asking for. And I feel this time around they’re definitely trying to get more experienced employees.
I have just under 2 years engineering experience and I’m sure to land something soon. But I guess I want to be reassured that other people are in a similar boat like me. Where it’s not entirely our fault that finding a job nowadays is difficult but mostly because COVID has probably intimidated employers or affected their decisions on who they want to hire. I’m thinking they want to hire more experienced employees as a priority before other entry level positions.
I’m just ranting about my experience so far job hunting during COVID and just like to know how everyone else feels whether it’s harder, easier, or just about the same finding a job.
