Advice on asking recruiters & HR on Linkedin about internships

Hi guys! I'm looking for an internship and I have decided to change tactics and use LinkedIn.

I have a number of companies that I follow on my page and I thought it would make sense to reach out to HR and recruiters asking them about intern positions in their companies, but I’m not sure if it's okay and how to do that to not look desperate.

Any tips/tricks or advice will be greatly appreciated!
