How do I communicate my boundaries to my boss without coming off as rude or overly-demanding?

I was asked the first month I got my job whether I'd be willing to work Sundays. I said no.

They ask me again for February. I say no.

I'm being asked again for March, only this time it's my boss (instead of the schedule manager) who's asking and they send me a text saying, "Hello, checking to see if you would be able to work any Sundays in March? We especially have a need this Sunday, March 7 as several people requested it off."

I really want to say no, but I'm scared of them firing me or something. I'm not an assertive person by nature, so saying "no" the first two times already took a lot of mental strength on my part.

I really don't think I could tolerate a Sunday shift-- the pay for the job is too low at $13/hr and the shift makes you feel like your whole day has been eaten up (it's 2pm to 8:30pm, so you get some hours in the morning depending on when you wake up, and realistically 2 hours in the evening before going to bed or start winding down for the day). The only reason why I still show up to work in the first place is because I have student loans I need to pay off ASAP. Part of me wonders if it's just better to quit and find a job with more reasonable shift hours.

What do you guys think? How should I communicate my demands to my boss without coming off as rude or overly-demanding?

Part of me wants to tell my boss my real feelings about the job and how much I dislike the pay and shift hours and barely tolerate the shifts I do work, but I feel like that's just a nice way to get fired.
