Redditors who have interviewed or been interviewed for Program Management Officer roles, what questions and examples did you ask and are you after?
I have an internal interview for a PMO role. I've never worked in program management before but reading the JD, I have a lot of transferrable skills (managing a team, working across departments, the right internal and external relationships, sound knowledge of the business). There are also skills/theory I need to learn like software development (not the technical side, but topline processes etc in order to communicate to the wider business). I have already spoken to the person this role would report into and he said he is open to coaching the right person if they are lacking the skills such as software development.
Realistically, I know I am very middle of the pack and will rely heavily on my knowledge of the business, relationships and cultural fit.
What questions would you ask to get a good feel for the interviewee?
What are some of the best examples I could offer to show my abilities are transferrable?
I'd like to move in a role like this as it offers career progression, improved visibility across the business and more options to change industries in the future. This is important to me as we continue to see lots of restructuring, consolidation and jobs moving out of the country.
