Is it difficult to find an entry level medical billing and coding job?

I’m interested in a medical billing and coding certificate program, looking for a career change where working from home is possible. I was a vet tech and receptionist for 9 years, so that is the extent of my medical experience. I’m two classes shy of my associates degree which I would like to finish soon also. I searched job listings to get an idea of the requirements. So far I haven’t seen any “entry level”, they require 2-5 years experience, I keep reading “get your foot in the door by starting with clerical work”. Understandable, but in my experience clerical work doesn’t pay great. I don’t think I should go into a job assuming that would happen either. Could anyone offer insight?
