I graduated university back in April 2020, lost my first post-college job, and can’t seem to find another
I graduated with a BA in History last April. Due to the pandemic, I had a really difficult time finding a job following graduation. It took 2 months, but I finally was offered a position as an assistant manager at a large fashion retailer. The job itself was fine, and I intended on working there for only a year or so while I studied for my LSAT. Well, I made it just shy of 7 months before the company decided to close our location. I was hoping to transfer, but I didn’t meet the minimum requirements to do so(had to be employed for 9 months). I’ve been looking for a new job since December(when they first told us we were shutting down), and have applied to well over 100 positions. I’ve had 4 interviews but none of them have worked out. I’m really starting to get discouraged. I keep running into the issue of not having enough experience. I’m not qualified for any retail management jobs because I have less than a year experience. And most customer service positions want more specific qualifications that I don’t have or are getting hundreds and hundreds of applications. I don’t know where to go from here. I’ve thought about just finding a sales associate or food service job, but unfortunately , I don’t have the luxury of being able to take a minimum wage job or something that is less than full time. I’ve done the math and it’s just not feasible. I’m not looking for anything that I can make a career out of. Just something that will let me survive for a bit while I prep for my LSAT and focus on getting into law school.
