I’m interested if anyone has experienced anything similar to what happened to me this Friday.
I received a call from HR at the job I was interviewing for and I was informed they were going with someone else, someone internally. They said they got great feedback about me and were going to send my resume to a few other managers, because they felt I’d be a great asset to the company.
Two hours later I get a call from a random number. Turns out to be the director at the job I was interviewing for, the job that had just denied me. He says it’s been a crazy day, and ultimately tells me the other candidate they originally extended an offer to turned down the job. Right then and there he asked me if I wanted to be a part of the team and asked me what salary I was looking to make. I was sort of in shock. I said yes and he said we’d circle back on Monday and finalize the details.
This all seemed very odd. This is a very large corporation, not a small business. Why did they tell me I didn’t get the job before finalizing with the other candidate? Is this a red flag?
