Hi everyone. I'm 19, in college and working part time. I like my job, and am not looking to leave, but I usually browse job sites at least once day, just in case I find something better. Yesterday, I found an interesting job and sent in an application on Indeed. Today, a rep from the company got back to me and asked for my permission to run a credit check prior to interview or hire.
I have applied to hundreds of jobs in my life (before I got my current job, I basically applied to every job I could find, in person or online) and this is the first one to ever ask for a credit check. Should I be suspicious? If legit, could the fact that I don't have any credit disqualify me? I know it'll bite me in the ass at some point, but I don't have a credit card - I'm a big believer in "if you can't buy it outright, just don't buy it." Anyway, back to the original point - should I be suspicious of this/will not having credit affect my chances of interview/offer? Thank you.
