I have an interview next week with a company I'm really interested in and could use some help with phrasing that I was paid a signing bonus to leave my previous employer. My last employer went through a merger and the FTC required that they sell off some assets (to not have a monopoly). Previous employer sold an asset to my current employer and previous employer had/has to do what they can to help make my current employer successful per the FTC. When the asset was being sold, helping make my current employer successful meant I needed to leave to help the new company. I was paid a hefty signing bonus from my previous employer for this. I always get questions about leaving my last job, and it's a bit confusing to explain to folks that aren't familiar with the companies involved. I want to phrase it positively but also succinctly. I have said that I was sold with the asset, but considering I wasn't technically sold with all the other employees, that isn't really accurate.
Thanks for your help.
