I interviewed for a lab internship position before holiday break (mid-December maybe?) and it went really well. At the end of the interview, I thanked the interviewer (who was also the PI) and told him that I hope to hear back soon, and he responded by saying something along the lines of "No, I think we should move forward--you're a great fit and I'll talk to HR." I sent a thank-you email after that he didn't respond to and I haven't heard anything back from him since. I'm not sure if things are moving slow because of the holidays, but should I send another follow-up email asking him if he still wants to move forward? There is somewhat of an urgency to this because I need to start the process of getting credits for my research through my school, which is why I want to email him soon. I also have no clue how to word the email without seeming pushy or entitled to the position. This seems like a common-sense question as I continue to type this, but this is the first job I've really interviewed for and I'm still learning the process.
