Some background: I'm graduating next semester (spring 21) with a BA in political science from a well-respected university and a GPA of 3.75. In high school I was diagnosed with epilepsy, and I got on meds to prevent seizures. Six very careful years later I am seizure-free, but continue to take nightly medicine.
This medicine has a nasty side effect of insomnia (and most likely shifting my circadian rhythm over the last six years according to my neurologist). In a delicious twist of irony the most likely trigger for my seizures is sleeplessness. As a result I have worked with my university to set up my classes to be in the afternoons, so that if I cannot sleep the night before I won't be forced to wake up at 7 and risk having a seizure.
Here I am, about to graduate from my dream school with good grades in a field that truly interests me and that I have a great passion for. Given my circumstances though, I'm concerned about the typical 9-5 schedule as it could be detrimental to my physical and mental health. If I apply to a job I feel like they'll think "oh he can't/doesn't want to do the 9-5 that literally everyone else does, seems lazy" and toss my application out. I'm not lazy and I do want to work hard and make good money to pay back my loans and then help with my mom's. Does anyone have advice or valuable personal experience? This is stressing me out quite a bit, especially because COVID hurt my ability to get internships and other career opportunities due to me being stuck in my tiny hometown as opposed to the world of possibility that I'd be in if I was still on campus. I applied to 30+ online jobs over the summer and got only two replies, both of which never got back to my subsequent emails.
Anyways, thank you in advance for your help :)
