I got connected with a recruiter, and based on what I've gathered they are sort of like a recruiting/staffing agency specifically for people that do what I do. They connected me with another company who is their client, and I've now interviewed with both and awaiting a decision on an offer. I would be paid via contract for the first 6 months from the original company, and then have a chance at the end to get actually hired on by the company I had been working for on contract. They told me they have a very high rate of people getting hired.
So far it's all gone well, the industry this new company is in interests me far more than the one I've been in (I'd be doing the same job, but different industry), and I've been very much wanting a change from my current position where I'm a bit burnt out. But I currently have a very stable decent enough paying full time job with a lot of job security, so leaving it for any sort of contract job worries me.
Has anyone done that? How did it go?
