After nearly 10 months of being unemployed, I finally got a new job. It has been a rollercoaster ride with the COVID pandemic. I lost my first full-time job after graduating, which was working at the front desk of a FinTech company.
Since July, I had been collecting unemployment and applying to jobs on a weekly basis and trying to find any source of work that will pay me more than unemployment does now. I finally found a job working for an after school program, something I had done previously for 4 years. It's only part-time at 30 hours a week, with no benefits, but it pays more than unemployment does, so it is a start!
For me, I am just taking a deep breath and not worrying about anyone else, or whether they kept their job, or how much someone else gets paid, and whether it's more than me or not. With the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are going to have to take a step back and take on roles that aren't in their field or that they are overqualified for.
Definitely nervous about starting a new job though. I haven't had very much social interaction(other than recruiters/interviews), or really any other social contact outside my inner circle. Trying to stay positive through all of it though! I got through a lot of pain and suffering through all this pandemic and you will too!
