I am a teacher, 21yrs old. The holidays are here and of course, I put in my vacation time in first thing October to steal the week of Christmas so I could spend time with my family. My boss approved it since my 1 year anniversary hits the exact date!
Now i called off Friday to spend time with my boyfriend and I told her and apologized for the last minute call in, but my boyfriend surprised me for the day. She made it a big deal of course, and I understand but I rarely call off. And being a preschool teacher with 10, 1 year olds is hell. And he works so much we barely see each other. So I felt I truly deserved a day to spend with him
Well, it’s the week of Christmas it’s my vacation!. I get a phone call today, they are asking me to come in this week since they are low on staff and she made a smart-as* comment saying she seen my boyfriend pick up his friend from our job(we work together) and said “hope you guys enjoyed your whole day together for your vacation” so she assumes we didn’t spend time together and I “lied”??? I was confused, but I said I made plans for the day but I can try to come in tomorrow. She then says “oh well, never mind. Just continue your vacation”
3 hours later she sends me a text saying “the owner said you weren’t eligible for vacation until 1/3” I was about to lose my sh*t!!!! I still am. This is so unfair on my end, I put this request in since October and now they are taking that away from me. I havent seen my family in months either. This isn’t even the main reason as to why I want to quit—this school just fails to respect teacher’s mental health on a daily. Is this even a valid reason to quit ? Do I have a right to even be upset about this? And if this is a valid reason to quit, should I write a resignation letter to finish this year off?
