newbie health insurance question. if I am an out of state remote worker, and the health insurance plan my employer offers is an HMO, it’s useless to me, correct?

that’s what I am understanding from my google search. it’s not a huge deal right now since I’m 23 and still covered by my mom’s health insurance. should I see if they can offer another option?
