I'm on a mission to becoming a programmer. I've been studying for a couple of years (self-taught), just revamped my resume/online presence, and am hoping to get my foot in the door somewhere.
I've heard from a couple people that recruiters have helped them as they were trying to get their first programming job, and that I should try getting in contact with some that are in my area. The only problem is that I'm not exactly sure what the best way to do that is...
So far I've been reaching out to recruiters and sending them a personalized message; introducing myself, telling them how I'm interested in connecting with them, and how my skills would benefit their clients. I also attach a copy of my resume so they have it on file.
So what do you guys think... Is there anything else that you guys think I should add? Any tips from those that have experience with this sort of things? I've gotten a couple of messages back that say they'll keep me in mind, but the majority are pretty silent.. don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing...
Also I feel that I should add that this is not all I'm doing on my quest for my first job, but I'm hoping that it'll give me a little bit of a leg up from others out there.
